How to get rid of termites / white ants in Brisbane and surrounding areas.
There are many different ways to discover termites in and around your home. Termites are found in mulch in the garden, stumps, trees, fences, piers, flooring, walls, roofing, even under pot plants and many other unusual places.

How to get rid of termites: Getting rid of termites correctly is very important. All areas in Australia have their own species and subspecies of termites. Coolum, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Ipswich, Caloundra, and Nambour share the same species. Some of our local termites are so destructive they literally eat your home while you are in it fully unaware of their presence.

To get rid of termites

To get rid of termites / white ants they must first be found and then treated in the correct manner using a registered product that will work in the most effective way. If you attempt to treat them without finding all of the nest you almost certainly will only treat a small number of soldiers and workers. Unless your treatment reaches the queen the nest will quickly regenerate. You will only stop a few hundred workers and soldiers at best, The queen of just one nest can lay up to 3000 eggs per day so the nest regeneration happens very quickly.

Termites / White Ants are subterranean and live mainly under the soil and remain largely unseen.  It is impossible to treat termites successfully without expert knowledge.
Getting rid of termites can involve all surrounding neighbours. Termites know no boundaries and structures such as fences are simply another food source for them. Termites feeding on your home may be nesting up to two houses  away.

Termite colony

A termite colony is like an octopus and has many tentacles . One common termite named schedorhinotermes spp. constructs small sub nests that can extend their reach, This termite eats hard wood and softwood. It is very destructive and is very common. Older homes often have evidence of termite activity in the yard and structures such as fences can be targeted along with timber retaining walls, tree stumps, garden beds, outbuildings etc. Usually shedorhrinotermes.spp are found attacking such areas. An annual termite inspection for your house is designed for early detection and is always recommended if any damage is discovered anywhere in the yard or home.
