What our clients say about our work
Thank you MacCotter’s. You came to my home for a termite inspection and I would like to thank you for your professional but friendly approach. I would also like to thank you for your patience with all my questions (yep, I asked a whole heap) and your consideration with your answers. I have had termite inspections over the years but none so thorough as you provided. Your inspection report was also very detailed. You were prompt & obviously very experienced. You have been able to provide me with some peace of mind about my home and that is worth so much more than what you charged for your inspection. I absolutely recommend you to anyone who wants great service from people who care! Thanks so much.

Cockroaches are a Health Risk
Cockroaches eat decaying vegetation and are an important part of the eco system.
There are approximately 350 to 400 types of cockroach in Australia but only a few are regarded as pests
The Main Pest Cockroach Types:
The Brown Banded Cockroach (14mm) and the German Cockroach (12mm) are the smallest. The brown banded cockroach likes drier conditions around the house while the German cockroach needs moisture so invades the wet areas in the home like kitchens and bathrooms. Cockroaches can carry diseases such as Salmonella, Staphylococcus and Streptococcus. They eat food and faeces of animals and can harbour viruses such as the Polio Virus. Bacteria can survive in their digestive systems for months and even years and is passed on to humans. They will defecate and vomit on food and disease can be passed on to humans who eat contaminated food. It has also been known for some people to develop allergies caused by cockroaches.

The most serious pest is the German Cockroach.
German Cockroaches are small and prefer areas like the kitchen. Domestic and commercial properties are equally affected and left untreated the infestation can reach chronic proportions. They are found under sinks, in bath tubs, hot water systems, refrigerators, and walls voids. Once they have established a large population they can get out of control. Cockroaches lay egg casings with 30 to 40 eggs per casing. The female breeds three to for times a year. Once eggs have hatched small cockroaches invade every spot in reach. The most common place to find growing hatchlings is in the pages of cook books, any paper, cloths, linen, bath towels, kitchen draws, cutlery, all pantry items and inside any electronic device. Microwaves, cash registers, calculators, toasters, stoves, coffee machines, heaters, sandwich makers all are potential places for infestation.
